Ive fired a buddy's .357SIG, and didnt really notice the recoil vis a vis the 9 or the .45.. Im looking into it but will have to handload the rounds at the $$$$-point! Having an auto in .357 appeals, altho Im still dithering on a 10mm Glock... Both cartridges seem to be losing ground tho, in popularity.. My car-carry is a .40 S&W (retired duty pistol) and I shoot it well but am enamored of the SIG round... I will be trying this again. I hope and pray that none of us ever have to use lethal force on any other human being!

Not only does the 357 SIG achieve, higher velocities, more energy in fps, and better penetration, but the 357 SIG fires on a very flat trajectory, making it a more accurate than other calibres. It combines features of both, 9mm, and .40 calibres, and results in the 357 SIG.
The improved performance harnessed by the 357 SIG, essentially, equates the 357 SIG to that of a 9mm Magnum! With that said, the performance of the 357 SIG, all but makes the standard 9mm an antiquated, obsolete calibre.

I own several 9mm and .45s, since I bought a Glock 32...I have divorced my Berettas, Colts and S&W for this amazing cartridge, the .357 Sig...even I am almost 80 yo...I can handle it with ease and no problem at all with recoil.

I’m not using a Sig firearm, but my EDC gun is a Glock 33 in 357 Sig. I carried the model 26 in 9mm for a lot of years, but after reading about the 357 Sig cartridge I wanted to try it. I loaded up my new Glock 33 and after firing the first round my mouth was big enough around that it resembled a large coffee cup. I was expecting more recoil, but not that much. Now keep in mind that I’d been shooting 9mm for many years and the recoil of a 9mm doesn’t come close even out of the same size guns. Anyway, after I knew what to expect I haven’t looked back. Is there anything wrong with the other cartridges for self defense? Absolutely not. Anyone that says so also contradicts themselves if you ask them if they wouldn’t worry about being popped with one. They get a real pissy attitude right out the gate and that pretty much takes care of their argument. Like anyone else, I have no interest in being popped with anything no matter what caliber it. That includes the good ol’ Daisy Red Rider. LOL! Everyone has their opinion on what to carry and I totally respect those decisions, but for me, I’ll have my model 33 attached to my hip and pray I never have to use it. I have no interest in being in a gunfight, but if I’m ever forced to do so, I’m pretty sure my 357 Sig cartridges will give the bad guy a real bad case of heartburn and indigestion that Maalox won’t fix.
Best wishes to all
