I acquired a beautiful, brand new Beretta 92A1 made in Italy. (traded for a rifle I didn't need) I had never even fired one before. The fat factory grips almost killed the deal, I have fairly small hands. Some quick research and some words from another 92A1 owner put me back in the game. Wilson Combat makes some handsome Ultra-Thin grips that solved the problem. I chose a set of cherry/black grips that actually created a recess in the palmswell area, and you wouldn't believe the difference! After 400 rounds of varying cartridge types, I can say without exaggeration that I am in love with my new Beretta. A gas to shoot at the range, and the confidence that comes with it, have prompted me to make this my main home defense piece. Not to mention three first rate 17 round magazines that come with the hard case package. Shopping for a deal on bulk ammo at the moment, and looking forward to my next trip to the range. SOON! I don't know how I went so long without this masterpiece of a pistol. And a big salute to Pietro Beretta, wherever he and his family may be.

I really love my 92A1. It points so naturally it's almost effortless to shoot well. The fact that it has a dovetail front sight was glossed over my the author but it's a huge plus. Most 92's don't have the ability to swap front sights.

The first thing any owner should do is swap out the hammer spring for the D spring. It's a huge improvement over the factory version. After that it's whatever floats your boat.

I found the large grips uncomfortable and they didn't offer the control I wanted. I removed mine and installed the Hogue wrap around grips. The Hogue grip was a game changer. I can't recommend it enough.

Since my 92A1 is a home defense/range fun gun I installed a Surefire X400 laser/light combo. They are expensive but definitely worth it for me.

The 92A1 shipped with three 17 round magazines which is awesome. Seventeen plus one is a good amount of ammo but I bought a couple 20 round mags to go with them because 20 + 1 is better than 17 + 1. And, well, just because.

My 92A1 is very accurate. Considering it's a mass produced factory pistol and not a customized competition gun the accuracy is impressive. Accurate guns are fun and this gun is fun. As I said, it's no custom competition pistol but it's not supposed to be. It's a fantastic affordable pistol that's easy to modify to your tastes. It feels great, shoots great, looks great and is just plain fun. What else do you need?
