To compare a Dan Wesson 45 ACP to a Rock Island 45 ACP is just stupid. As an owner of both, and several Colts and Kimber 45’s, Rock Island is a great fishing weight to hold your bait, but not more! More research and experience would greatly help the author.

Over the years I have owned a number of 1911’s. I have narrowed my collection down to the two current Smith and Wesson 45 caliber Performance Center 1911’s, and two from Dan Wesson. The first DW I bought is a Pointman 9. I was looking for an full size Stainless 1911 in 9mm. I had issues out of the box where the slide would lock up after a few rounds. I sent it to DW for service and after the second trip back to the factory it is the finest handgun I own. Accurate, reliable, and fun to shoot. I was so impressed with the Pointman 9, after it was sorted out, that I bought my second Dan Wesson 1911. I was able to find a new Valor V-Bob Commander also in 9mm. This one was perfect out of the box and also a wonderful soft shooter. I have been very impressed with Dan Wesson and wouldn’t hesitate recommend or purchase another DW or CZ product.

My Valor is a most excellent 1911. It has run flawlessly straight out of the box. I’m sure my new Discretion will not disappoint. Thank you for the history lesson!
