That incident with that trigger "recall" must have made them shy.I bought a 700 Varmint in 308 in the early '80s. The oem trigger just could not be adjusted light enough for what was supposed to be a long range very accurate rifle. At its lightest settings, a bump of the butt of the stock on the floor dropped the firing pin. When adjusted to a setting where the firing pin wouldn't drop if the rifle were dropped off the Empire State Bld the pullweight didn't break until 6 lbs. I replaced it with a Timney

Three years ago I bought a Remington PCR in 6.5 Creedmoor. This came with a supposedly good adjustable trigger, No amount of adjustment took it below 5 lbs pull weight. Taking the adjustment screw all the way out was still 5 lbs. Remington was offering repair to a lot of rifle owners with a similar problem. Decided I wouldn't ever trust it, so I installed a Timney, I believe the 512. Gave me a 2.5 lb solid as a chunk of granite that broke like a piece of glass!
