I have two Mossberg 695 shotguns with rifled bores...they are VERY accurate with sabot slugs..the 695 receiver is factory drilled for Weaver bases..suggest you use a scope on your 695..you will be pleased with the results. !!

Hello I have the bolt action 410. That's what I started to use as a kid and I still use it sometimes. My hands are not as good now but I can still pull that bolt very quick. I rolled a couple rabbits with it last hunting season. My last gun will be a 410 semi auto.

In reply to <a href="https://gunivore.com/shotguns/bolt-action-shotguns-101/#comment-32735">Grace Lecara</a>.

Thanks for the comment Grace, i myself just bought my first shotgun recently (about a month or so ago) during this covid 19 pandemic, so finding local range thats open and available to the public has been a bit of challenge for me. I bought a 12 gauge pump mossberg maverick 88, and i still have yet to fire it. Its not my first firearm, i also own some pistols but am excited to get out there and start shooting my first “rifle.” I really like guns, and thought i was aware of all the different shotgun actions there were until i saw the savage 20g bolt action which i thought was pretty cool! Anyway id like to try it out someday ✌😁

I have a Kessler 30c 20 ga bolt action that was my father’s. Not sure when he purchased it but he used it when I was a kid in the ‘50s. Recently I’ve become more active in clays and until I’m a whole lot better shooter, and especially a more frequent/active one, I can’t really justify buying an expensive auto loader. But the important point is, I have found it’s the shooter (me), not the gun that makes the difference. I’ve shot several autos and they are fun, faster, and smooth, but I don’t get any more clays than I do with The bolt. Thank you for your article on the bolts, I was happy to hear they are perhaps making a “comeback”, or at least, not yet totally relegated to the archives. I aspire to one day saying to myself, “you really need to get another shotgun”. One must be fashionable at the range, to be sure.
Thanks again, great read !
