Hello Gunivore staff, I recently purchased A SA Mil-Spec 1911 45acp, and am impressed with the accuracy and fit and finish of this model. The ease of target acquisition is great, although I was not happy with this 1911 coming with only one magazine. I purchased a second 7 round magazine from the SA store.

Interesting article but I disagree with many of the author’s conclusions. I may be either less biased or, possibly, more biased because I’m not a polymer fanboy because I have absolutely no problems carrying a “heavy” pistol for my EDC piece. As a matter of fact, I regularly carry a SA Mil-spec 45 and a S&W model 640 (stainless 38) when I’m off-duty and I don’t feel particularly inconvenienced by the extra weight of these two not-so-light handguns. I prefer and appreciate the dampened recoil that the use of steel pistols afford and, I must admit, I have a real affinity for steel, wood and leather. I’d rather put my trust (and my life!!!!) in what is, in my opinion and experience, is a “real” gun. Of course I’ve used and carried “plastic” pistols (and, have absolutely no problem with the fact that others hold a different opinion than mine), but I just prefer the feeling that I have when my play is braced by the two “heavyweights” that are on my side (or, at least, on my person) whenever I’m confronted by the evil that seems to permeate our society.
