Bergara Barrels

Bergara rifles are known for their expertly-crafted barrels, and few companies can do it quite like them. These precision barrels start out as high-grade cylindrical steel that is scrutinized for faults to extreme measures. This crucial first step plays a key role in promoting their remarkable accuracy, but it doesn’t stop there. Once the steel is straightened, it goes on to the deep hole drilling process. Next, the steel rods go through an innovative process known as barrel honing. Whereas most gunmakers move onto reaming, Bergara utilizes three separate honing spindles with diamond tipped bits to effectively polish the interior of the barrels and avoid leaving tool marks. They then proceed to button rifling their barrels which produces the appropriate twist rate for each specific rifle and caliber. Their carbide process is so precise that it is said to rival gunsmiths who use hand lapping to create their rifling grooves. Lastly, the barrels undergo a high-temperature stress relieving process to ensure there are no deformities in the steel.

Although I only got to shoot the B-14 once, I was immediately impressed by its crisp 3 lb. trigger and AICS magazine. However, after speaking to some B-14 owners, I learned that Bergara ingeniously incorporated an integrated bedding girder (mini-chassis) for repeatable bedding and accuracy which runs from the pistol grip up to the forend.

Custom Rifles

Bergara used to run a custom shop which enabled users to build their rifle online but has since ended the popular program. However, they currently encourage buyers to check out their Premier Series if they are interested in custom-quality rifles. This line of bolt-actions is diverse and features some of the finest hunting rifles on the market. I was immediately drawn to the LRP Elite and it was even better than I could have imagined. Bergara constructs the Premier rifles with the finest barrels they can produce, throw in an impressive aluminum chassis stock, and include their iconic smooth Premier Action. That being said, I decided to give a closer look at these stocks and I was blown away. Bergara partnered up with Mega Arms and Killer Innovations to produce the CNC machined ORIAS chassis. Although lightweight, the 7075-T651 billet aluminum chassis is loaded with premium features and components. In addition to their Magpul PRS Butt Stock and self-adjusting recoil lug locking system, they also include keymod rail sections and an ergonomic AR15-style pistol grip.
