Trijicon has been making reflex (also called reflector) sights since 1996. The original Trijicon Reflex was a 1×24 sight, which was quickly adopted by the U.S. military. Its brother (a 1×42 reflex sight) was introduced in 2008, and it has been enjoying immense popularity.

In 2009, Trijicon released a new kind of sight: the ruggedized miniature reflex (RMR). This sight came in two different versions – a light emitting diode (LED) source of illumination, or a tritium/fiber-optic illumination. It is a red dot sight, which stays illuminated in every condition you could think of, as our Trijicon RMR review will indicate. Cloudy, bright, day, night, dawn, dusk – whatever it is, you’ll be able to find your target with this revolutionary sight.

Part of what makes it truly revolutionary is the design of the sight’s housing. The RMR’s housing is unique. It is engineered in such a way which absorbs impact and diverts stress away from the lens. This improves durability, and it eliminates the need for protective shields or covers. It is strong, it is precise, and it is versatile.

Model RM01

Shortly after its release, the Trijicon RMR was named the “Optic of the Year” by the Firearms Marketing Group’s (FMG) Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence. No surprise there, since Trijicon really is committed to excellence, and their accessories are top shelf.

Over the years, the RMR line has been further improved on. In 2011, Trijicon added an adjustable LED option to the two versions already available. In 2014, an adapter and night sight combo for the 1911 pistol model was released. In 2015, the RMR line was expanded on even further, with the introduction of a 1 minute of angle (MOA) red dot reticle option.

Let’s take a look at some of the technical specifications of the RMR’s different versions. We will begin with the RM01, which is the LED-illuminated version.

Next, let’s take a look at the adjustable LED model, the RM06.

This model utilizes the same type of lithium battery, so – once again – extreme temperatures will affect the battery’s performance and lifespan.

The adjustable LED model has 2 other versions:

What makes this model unique is that the brightness settings can be set manually, or left on automatic. There are 8 different settings of brightness to choose from with the adjustable LED model, including 2 night vision settings and a super bright setting.

Trijicon RMR Reflex Sights

Because of its relatively small size, the entire RMR line is traditionally seen on handguns. However, it can also be mounted on rifles, shotguns, and carbines. It can be used as a primary sight or a secondary one, along with a magnifying optic. This allows you to get a lot more out of the sight, depending on your needs.

Trijicon’s RMR is parallax-error free, so there is no need for any kind of compensation. The sight’s lenses are very efficient. They are high-quality, multi-coated light transmitters. This ensures that there is no distortion in color, and that the shooter is able to focus on the target. All RMR’s are easily adjustable for windage and elevation, and the sight’s buttons are designed for fast access and hassle-free manipulation.

All of Trijicon’s reflex sights are waterproof up to 66 feet, and they make an excellent addition to any firearm. Depending on the weapon’s intended use, a shooter can take full advantage of Trijicon’s various RMR sights. So many options to choose from – reticle colors, adapters, mounts, and finishes. Trijicon thought of everything. You can even purchase RMRs which are ready to be placed alongside Trijicon’s Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight (ACOG) series.

Warranty on these sights is limited to the original purchaser’s lifetime, and it covers defects in materials and craftsmanship. The tritium lamp is warrantied for 15 years, and the electronics are warrantied for 5 years. These are applicable from the date of manufacture. And speaking of manufacturing, the entire RMR line is made in the U.S.

Price of the RMR sights varies by model. The dual illuminator versions are listed at $577, the LED versions are listed at $655, and the adjustable LED versions are listed at $708. These prices come straight from Trijicon’s official website, and you can find them all for lower prices on other websites.

The Trijicon RMR packages come with your chosen sight, a CR2032 lithium battery (for the LED/adjustable LED versions), 2 screws, an Allen wrench, a user manual, a Trijicon sticker, and a warranty card.
