In 2004, mechanical designer Glen Seekins came back from a deer hunt during which he consistently missed the mark – later it was discovered to be due to broken scope rings. Upon learning this broken truth, Seekins decided to take matters into his own designing hands and create a set of scope rings that would have the capacity to endure the punishment that is Idaho deer-hunting season. This resulted in the creation of the companyās first-ever product, the SP Scope Rings, which remain their flagship product to this day.
Seekins and his wife rented a CNC machine and began producing rings in their garage. They outgrew that garage quickly, and over the years have moved time and again, expanding and innovating, before settling into their current headquarters located in Lewiston, Idaho. The Seekinsā company now produces not only rings, assemblies, and AR-related products, but complete rifles as well. Now it’s time that we take a closer look at Seekins Precision!
Seekins Precision Modern Sporting Rifles
This series of firearms includes long-range rifles, competition rifles, and active duty/home defense rifles. Some models possess tech specs which exceed mil-spec performance levels, and it is safe to say that this series is certainly up to par. A variety of barrels, triggers, stocks, and treatments make up the difference between the models, and here are a couple which stand out.
Seekins Precision SP10
You canāt look at the SP10 and still think that the AR platform has nowhere to go. I donāt understand people who look at this kind of rifle and say āmehā. But hey, thatās me. And to me, the Seekins SP10 is proof that this 60-year-old platform is not going anywhere. Together with a 22ā match-grade barrel, Timney competition trigger, upper and lower receiver machined from 7075-T6 billet aluminum, a ProComp 10x stock, and other goodies – the SP10 is a badass.
Specs for the Sp10 6.5 Creedmoor
Action: semi-auto, direct-impingement
Barrel length: 22ā
Length: 43ā
Weight: 10 lbs.
Sights: none
Capacity: 30 rounds (20 round magazine included)
Ambidextrous selector
MSRP $2650

Seekins Precision VKR20
Chambered in .224 Valkyrie – a caliber which gives 6.5 Creedmoor a run for its money! – the VKR20 is also machined top and bottom from 7075-T6 aluminum. A 20ā Seekins Precision barrel is standard on this model, and it comes with the proprietary Advanced Tactical Compensator brake, designed to lower climb and offer quicker follow-ups. Other features include Timney Targa trigger, ProComp 10x stock, and the fact that the company guarantees this weapon exceeds mil-spec levels of performance.
Side note: I can never ever encounter the .224 Valkyrie without thinking about Apocalypse Nowā¦ I still havenāt read Heart of Darkness, the book which it is based on, but itās on my list.
Specs for the VKR20 in .224 Valkyrie
Action: semi-auto, direct-impingement
Barrel length: 20ā
Weight: 8.8 lbs.
Sights: none
Magazine: Magpul 20 rounds (included)
MSRP $1995

Seekins Precision Havak Bolt Rifles
Made-to-order precision bolt rifles – this is the gist of it. The Havak series includes the Pro (HP1) and Pro Hunter (PH1). Here is a little bit about both.
Seekins Precision HP1
Chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor or .308 Winchester, the HP1 has a 5R barrel, Magpul 700 stock, M16-style extractor, and a threaded muzzle with thread protector. It is a straight-up precision rifle and is highly recommended by more experienced shooters than I to be a fine entry point to the world of precision bolt-action rifles.
Action: Havak Action
Barrel length: 24ā
Weight: 10 lbs.
Capacity: 4+1 rounds
MSRP $1995

Seekins Precision PH1
Produced in a variety of calibers, this is a hunting rifle for the books. Match-grade 5R fluted barrel, Timney 510 trigger, ProComp CH1 composite stock, and spiral fluted bolt.
Action: Havak Action
Barrel length: 24ā or 26ā
Weight: 7 lbs.
Capacity: 4+1 rounds
MSRP $2200

Seekins Precision Receivers
If youāre interested in upgrading your AR-style firearm, consider swapping your current component for a Seekins quality receiver. These are manufactured to deliver results, they are 7075-T6 billet aluminum, and they have the potential to enhance your capacity as a shooter, using superior materials and meticulous machinery. The model numbers correspond with their completed counterparts, and they are available in several configurations.
The reason why this may be an area you should invest in, is because this is the heart of the rifle. Itās where the mechanical design and fine-tuned machinery come together, where the various forces of nature play and interact during operation, and where the firearm is actually located – legally and technically. Adding a touch more precision to the very core of your AR can go a long way, whether in the field, at the range, or in an emergency situation.

Assorted Products
In addition to sporting rifles, hunting rifles, and long-range/tactical rifles, Seekins also manufactures and sells a variety of items: from stocks and essential firearm accessories to branded clothing, drink coasters, and velcro-backed patches. Heck, they even have their own steins and coffee mugs on sale!
Here are a few of the products, at a glance:
A dark grey tank top bearing the words āSeekins Precision: Gun N Accessoriesā, in a great little throwback to Guns N Rosesā timeless album Use Your Illusion. The right logo, the right font, the right colors. MSRP $21.99
Campfire Mug: A handcrafted ceramic mug bearing the Havak logo. Fun fact! The website claims the mug is crafted right behind the Seekins shop, using their very own billet pottery wheel, and to top it all off, the wheel is powered by the gas harvested from the ATC muzzle break. I may have to pay a visit to the Idaho factory someday in order to ascertain that little nugget of information. Ah, well… MSRP $12.99
Bell-shaped 22oz beer stein: I donāt own this one, but I have owned a good beer stein or two in my life. Using steins like the one Seekins is selling – heavy, purposeful, and beautifully handcrafted – always invoke the same feeling inside of me; a feeling which, plainly put, is āthisā¦ this is how fluids need to be drunk!ā MSRP $45.00
Conclusion
You never know when and where life will throw you some lemons, so you better be ready with that figurative juicer. Glen Seekins had a bad hunting trip. There was an accident, and his scope rings were broken. But the truth is that some of the finest inventions in the world – and a good number of their origin stories, no doubt – were at least somewhat accidental.
The Seekins couple, Glen and Katie, are still going strong. They consider their story to be one version of the ongoing American Dream. In 10 years, they went from having wrecked scope rings to running a company which is always expanding and innovating, and which built its fortune on providing solid results where others have faltered or failed.
Seekins Precision is all about making you a better shot through better materials and superb machinery. It is all about providing the operator with the edge and with confidence, using careful engineering and an execution which exceeds expectations.
