SIG Sauer is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of handguns and rifles. It all started in 1853, when three individuals named Friedrich Peyer im Hof, Heinrich Moser, and Conrad Neher, established a small wagon-making company in Switzerland.

The story of SIG Sauer history and development, is a classic tale of success through hard work and persistence. The SIG saga fully demonstrates just how far great minds can go, when they are working together towards a common goal.

These three Swiss gentlemen originally built what they thought would be a wagon factory, in the city of Rhine Falls, Switzerland. They went on to produce wagons and railway cars, and had no way of knowing that their company would eventually become one of the world’s largest and most respected manufacturer of small arms.

After seven years of making wagons and railway cars, the three founders took up an invitation made by the Swiss Federal Ministry of Defense. The Swiss authorities were looking for a new kind of musket, in order to replace their service weapons, and the wagon company was up for the challenge.

This is very reminiscent of the ascent of other popular and game-changing firearms, such as the AR-15 (M16, for your military folk), or the AK-47.

The Swiss wagon company won the bid, with its innovative Prelaz-Burnand rifle design blowing out the competition. After winning that challenge, the Swiss Army ordered 30,000 units of the rifle, and the wagon company changed its name to Schweizerische Industrie-Gesellschaft (Swiss Industrial Company), or SIG.

SIG Sauer’s History

In the time between the mid-1800’s and the 20th century, SIG produced a number of firearms for the Swiss military, its law enforcement offices, and its general population.

In the 1970’s, The Swiss government decreed that local gun manufacturers had to partner with a foreign company, if they are to continue manufacturing weapons in Switzerland. SIG opted to partner up with Sauer & Sohn, a German firearms manufacturer, which was founded in 1751. This company was producing handguns and rifles, and it was already known for its quality hunting rifles, shotguns, and handguns. The partnership with SIG only improved Sauer & Sohn’s reputation, and the partnership between these brilliant designers and engineers continues to produce amazing firearms to this day. Like I said, it is the story of great minds.

The SIG small arms division was growing rapidly, and in the 1980’s the company turned its attention to the United States, as it saw the proverbial land of opportunity as a way to increase its share of the global market, and as a chance to supply Americans with high-quality firearms. SIG Sauer was on a mission.

In 1985, SIGARMS, Inc. – the company’s U.S. branch – was established in Virginia. The American subsidiary imported handguns from Europe, and went on to produce several models of its own, such as the P225 9mm, the P226, and P228. In the year 1990, the company’s headquarters moved to New Hampshire, and there began the production of the P229, chambered in .40 S&W.

In the 80’s and 90’s, the company made serious advancements in the field of firearm manufacturing. It spearheaded state-of-the-art technologies and designs. It was, and continues to be, a leader and trend-setter, rather than a mere follower of mainstream gun-making.

Today, the company’s headquarters are still located in New Hampshire. In 2007, the U.S. branch changed its name from SIGARMS to SIG Sauer, and business is still booming for this arms manufacturer. Their guns are known for their accuracy and dependability, all over the world.

Currently, SIG Sauer have about 900 employees. Together with Sauer & Sohn of Germany, and Swiss Arms AG (SIG Sauer’s parent company) of Switzerland, SIG Sauer makes up one of the largest firearm manufacturing companies working today. This global network of branches, consisting of companies in the U.S., Switzerland, and Germany, allows SIG Sauer to respond quickly to commercial supply and demand, to fluctuating gun laws (whether local or international), and to the fast-paced advances occurring in technology, gunsmithing, military doctrine, and law enforcement regulations.

SIG Sauer Academy

Apart from manufacturing and marketing firearms, SIG also founded the SIGARMS Academy (later renamed the SIG Sauer Academy), located in New Hampshire. Established in the late 1980’s, this training facility began as an idea thrown around by SIG execs and Federal officials from various government agencies in the U.S.

The Academy was meant to facilitate the shift from revolvers to semi-automatic weapons, which was an ongoing process occurring in all U.S. agencies. The Academy was doing great things, and following its success with government agencies, there was a growing demand for the Academy to open up its gates to the civilian population.

These days, the Academy not only trains troops, agents, and officers, but also offers civilian training for private citizens, as well as various organizations and businesses, which are not affiliated with the Armed Forces.

This Academy has it all – a pro shop, a 360 degree range, a 1000 yard range, a maritime training area, and a tactical training area. The Academy offers two different types of training, based on the audience: Armed Professional, and Responsible Citizen.

These training methods vary in a lot of ways, and they underscore the vast differences which exist between these populations. While it is an armed professional’s job to initiate contact in order to contain and manage an armed confrontation, a private citizen has no such obligation. SIG knows exactly who its audience is, and the Academy delivers the appropriate training accordingly. This was a very smart move, since it allowed SIG to reach a higher percent of the population. You don’t have to be the owner of any SIG products to take advantage of their unique training facilities. Whatever you shoot, SIG’s professional and dedicated team will have you shooting better, faster, and with greater confidence.

SIG’s Legion Series

SIG realizes that in the world of firearms, too, there are amateurs and professionals. Precisely for those unique shooters – who rightly consider themselves to be part of an elite, and who demand nothing but the very best from themselves and their weapons – SIG has taken two of its most popular firearms, and given them a serious overhaul.

So far, SIG’s Legion model series includes the P226 and P229 pistols, with others in line to join them.

The engineers at SIG Sauer worked tirelessly, in order to provide the professional shooter with enhancements and features which better suit the professional’s style. These features include, but are not limited to: reduced and contoured beavertail, enhanced action, low profile slide catch and de-cocking levers, solid steel guide rod, reach-adjustable trigger, custom and checkered grips, and a high contrast XRAY sight.

The Legion series enhancement does not only include firearms, but it is also the door to exclusive opportunities and gear from SIG. According to the company, the future will bring with it an array of firearms, accessories, and one hell of a shooting experience that is unlike any other.

SIG Sauer is committed to excellence. It has a proud tradition of nothing less than brilliance. SIG has been bringing it with force, ever since the mid 1800’s. I wasn’t around back then, but I’ll bet that even when those Swiss gentlemen were busy making railway cars and wagons, their products must have been the finest in all of Switzerland.

The SIG story is one of humble beginnings, seized opportunities, long-term thinking, and enduring success. This company would not have made it, if it wasn’t one of the best in its field. It came through for the Swiss authorities back then, and it comes through for its numerous clients and customers now.

Civilians, law enforcement officers, government agents, military personnel – all over the world, there are people who know that SIG is synonymous with quality and ingenuity, and who trust this company’s weapons with their lives.

The SIG story is one of inspiration, perspiration, and innovation. It just goes to show that when you put your mind to it, you can achieve pretty much anything.

When it comes to shooting and handling your gun, speed of reload is one of the most important subjects you can familiarize yourself with.
Sometimes, I just go to the range to unwind. Being on that firing line forces you to focus on what you are doing. When your mind is full of a whole mess of stuff, you just can’t think straight. But after some time at the range focusing, honing your skills, and squeezing that trigger 10, 50, or 100 times… Well, there is a chance that once the smoke clears, you just might find yourself with some new perspectives.

Maglula makes loading magazines easier

There is one small, yet significant, issue that comes with the territory of gun ownership – someone is going to have to load all of those rounds into magazines, and I have a feeling it’s going to be you. And, it can hurt.

Training with firearms can be a lot of fun. It is a chance to get all your aggressions out, purge yourself, and regenerate. On some level, it can be very therapeutic. It may sound a tad nuts, but I know I am not alone.

It doesn’t matter whether it’s a 9mm, a 5.56, or a 7.62 – loading rounds into magazines can be a tiresome, sometimes painful, activity. The mag’s feeding lips, the bullets themselves, the need to continuously push against the magazine’s spring – it’s not all fun. By the end of it, your thumb and hand both feel like they need a break.

Maglula to the rescue!

This Israeli company was founded in 2001, as a father and son team. They began working with military and law enforcement, but the civilian market was not left behind. Maglula develops, produces, and distributes loading and unloading accessories, and it has so far earned 9 U.S. patents.

The name Maglula stands for “Magazine Loading and Unloading Accessories”, and for the past 15 years, the company has been manufacturing loaders and unloaders for a wide array of pistols and rifles. Their line of products is constantly growing, with more and more firearms getting the Maglula treatment, much to the delight of firearms enthusiasts everywhere.

One of their most popular items is the UpLULA 9mm, which fits most – though not all – magazines for 9mm Luger to .45 ACP rounds. This revolutionary device loads and unloads rounds with ease, speed, and efficiency. It is one of Maglula’s best-selling loaders, and there is no wonder as to why that is. It takes any pains or thumb injury right out of the equation, and allows the shooter to spend more time on improving his accuracy, and less time staring at his red, tender, borderline bruised thumb.

The UpLULA 9mm doesn’t care how long the magazine is. If it is within that range (9mm – .45), it will most likely take it. The Maglula website has the full list of fitting magazines, so check it out.

UpLula Loader for Pistols

The Maglula UpLULA speed loader loads a round a second, saving the shooter a significant amount of time in the long run. Another big advantage which this product has, is that it eliminates the wear on the magazine’s feed lips. The UpLULA speed loader can help your magazines last longer.

Now, this may not be such a big deal with really cheap magazines. But, I personally know that I would not want anything to happen to my Magpul PMAGs. Those are great magazines, and I want them to last for a long time.

A bullet-loading device is not necessarily one of the go-to accessories that a new shooter thinks of, but it certainly should be. When you buy a gun or rifle, you will presumably want to train with it. A weapon’s owner should be skilled with their weapon of choice. Hopefully, you will be spending some time at the firing range. Maybe you will even find – much like I did – that shooting a gun can really help you find some balance. It’s a healthy way to relieve tension, anxiety, anger, and bad vibes.

All About the Maglula UpLula Speed Loader

The UpLULA 9mm speed loader comes in a variety of colors: black, pink, dark green, orange brown, lemon, and purple. It will load and unload single- and double-stack magazines, 1911’s of all manufacturers, and most .380ACP double-stack magazines.

The UpLula comes in a variety of colors, including purple, orange brown, dark green and lemon

This product is more essential than most people think. Obviously, you should still load and unload some magazines by hand. You don’t want to get too comfortable with this machine. Like I said, if you own a gun, you should know how to use it — and part of using it is knowing how to load and unload a magazine by hand. In an emergency situation, you probably won’t have an UpLULA in your pocket, right? Although, for the record, it can certainly fit in any ordinary pocket. This thing is small and it weighs practically nothing, tipping the scales at 2.3 oz.

Whether it is in the field, the range, or the armory – the UpLULA speed loader is a lifesaver. It saves time, money, energy, and keeps you free from pain. Furthermore, by preventing damage to the magazine and its feed lips, it can reduce the occurrence of weapon jams. It’s a win-win situation.

The price of this device is around $30, give or take. It comes with a limited 1-year warranty on defects in materials and workmanship. There is very little chance that this warranty will ever have to be used, because Maglula’s products are durable and built to last a long time. It is a relatively simple and straightforward item. No inserts, no spacers, and no adjustments necessary. It does take a bit of time to get the hang of how to use it, but once that is clear, loading and unloading becomes a breeze. Painless, effortless, and 3 times as fast as thumb loading.

Side note: with certain magazines, it may be easier to load the first round by hand, and then use the UpLULA. This isn’t always the case, but it is definitely worth mentioning. Give yours a shot and find out.

Purple Maglula UpLula

So, to sum up – this item is a must. Get your gun, get a holster, a few mags and extra ammo. Then, right then and there, get your hands on the UpLULA by Maglula. It may not be the first thing you’d think of when getting a firearm, but be sure that your thumb would really appreciate it.

The Glock model 26 is one of the best-selling subcompact firearms in the world. Ever since its release in 1995, it has rivalled the Glock 19 and been a very popular choice for civilians and law-enforcement and both men and women alike. Some carry it in their pockets, some on their leg as a backup gun, and others carry one in their car. It’s small, it’s lightweight, and it has everything you have come to expect from Glock. One of the most useful and all-important skills a shooter can acquire is drawing and getting into position. When you are put in a situation where you have to react, you don’t want to start fumbling. You need to be able to move fast and work fast, in order to neutralize any threat as quickly and easily as possible. This is why a holster is a very important accessory. It is usually the very first accessory which a shooter gets. The reasoning behind this is simple: just like a rifle sling, a holster is there to keep the weapon close to us, and keep us aware. But more than that, the holster we choose to wear could affect our response time. Firing a handgun should always be the last resort. A final line of defense. Some people are too quick to draw, and this has gotten Second Amendment supporters into a lot of hot water. You can debate gun rights all you want, but as a shooter, one thing is clear: once you have decided to open fire – that is it. You draw, you aim, you fire. These are the top 10 holsters for Glock 26 around. When it comes to holsters, you may have to wear a few before finding the one which you are most comfortable with. Like every accessory, it is a matter of personal preference. These are the Top 10 Glock 26 Holsters, all of which are definitely worth checking out.

4. DeSantis Concealed Carry

This is a holster which is placed at the small of your back, which is another good spot for a backup gun. This holster is named Concealed Carry, and that is exactly what it delivers. The small of our back is, without a doubt, one of the most secretive locations for a backup weapon. Unlike an ankle pistol, you don’t need to change your position. Simply reach around and draw. If concealment is your goal, seriously consider trying this type of method out.
